RT Speech and Hearing (“company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information and right to privacy. We take your privacy very seriously. In this privacy policy, we seek to explain to you in the clearest way possible, what information we collect, how we use it and what rights you have in relation to the information collected.
This privacy policy applies to all information collected from people through our office, over our website, mobile, social media (“apps”), and/or any related services, sales, marketing or events (we refer to them collectively in this privacy policy as the “sites”).
Why we collect information about you
RT Speech and Hearing collects personal information so that we can provide customised hearing and/or speech pathology services to you. Information collected includes things like verifying your identity, checking your eligibility for subsidised services (speech pathology, audiology), and to help you shortlist suitable hearing care products from our suppliers.
We will not ask for any information that is not relevant to your hearing and/or speech pathology needs. You can choose not to provide us with all the details that we request. However incomplete details may result in us not being able to provide you with all the services that you may need. If you are providing personal details about someone else, please ensure that you are authorised to do this.
How we use and disclose your personal information
We only use information you give us for the purposes for which we collected it. We handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988, the Australian Privacy Principles 2014 and the privacy provisions of all applicable legislation in Australia.
We may provide your personal information to relevant agencies and any relevant Commonwealth, State or Territory statutory authorities, suppliers, service providers (e.g., therapists, educators, your doctor, medical specialists, other health service providers), that we believe may be relevant to you.

This privacy policy covers all personal information we hold, that is, information, or an opinion about an individual, whose identity is apparent, or can be reasonably ascertained, from that information or opinion. This includes information we have collected from in person, over the phone, our sites and apps. people through our office, over the phone and over the internet. We collect only the information that is necessary for delivering quality hearing and/or speech pathology services. We will ensure that it is not collected for any purposes, other than those for which we have obtained the individual’s consent, unless the law requires otherwise, or other exceptional circumstances prevail as described under the Act.
Where an individual chooses not to provide requested information, we will advise that individual of what consequences this non-disclosure may have.
Our goal is to protect the personal information collected by our company and its associations.

Information will be managed confidentially and securely and destroyed appropriately when no longer required.
RT Speech and Hearing has systems in place to protect the security of our records and we will monitor and implement appropriate technical advances or management processes, to safeguard personal information. No unauthorised person has access to them.

In the course of our business activities, we may need to disclose some of your personal information to relevant staff.
Occasionally, we may use data from this practice for research, quality assurance and clinical audit activities to improve our treatment services or post-graduate training. However, it will not include any information that identifies our clients.
As our practice is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals, we will view unauthorized disclosure of, or access to, personal information by our employees or contracts, as a serious breach of this policy and appropriate action (disciplinary, legal) will be taken.
This policy will be reviewed from time to time and any amendments will be incorporated into the updated policy.
