Hump Day Highlights: Collaborative Training at Yappara House
This Wednesday evening on 20 Nov 2024, Yappara House hosted a transdisciplinary training session led by speech pathologist Ruyi Tong from RT Speech and Hearing and occupational therapist Seb Della Maddalena from Haven. Staff came together after hours to deepen their understanding of how to support communication, sensory processing needs, and play.

Ruyi and Seb ensured the training wasn’t just about listening—it was about doing. Staff had the chance to step away from their busy schedules and dedicate focused time to practicing strategies they could use in their day-to-day work. One memorable part of the session was watching a video of a child interacting with their father, who had joined the training to share his perspective. This not only provided a valuable insight into the child’s communication style but also helped staff connect with the family’s lived experiences.
